The Final

May 24, 2007

First, behold these images of Master Chief (from Halo) and Solid Snake (from Metal Gear Solid)!
Master ChiefSolid Snake

Hehe… this is not to scale, but it looks like Snake is about to shoot Master Chief’s knee.  Or it did in the editing window.  Oh well.

Well, this summer, I’ll be going to basic training at West Point (referred to as “Beast Barracks” or simply “Beast”).  Little-know graduates of West Point include Ambrose Burnside (the origin of “sideburns”, if you see his picture you’ll know why) and George Armstrong Custer (the man behind the fiasco at Little Bighorn… according to Wikipedia a “local legend suggests that Custer obtained his appointment to the Academy due to the influence of a prominent resident, who wished to keep Custer away from his daughter”).  Just something sorta interesting…

…anyways, here is a good lightsaber fight:

But this… I keep watching this Matrix spoof again and again, and I’m still laughing.

So many good lines… and the whole prelude to the fight scene…  haha!

“Listen, Philosophicles, when I say no, generally I mean it the first time.”

Aaand that’s a wrap!  Have a good summer.

A Fabulous New Idea

April 19, 2007

There needs to be a comprehensive video game media site… a streamlining of all the good elements.  GameTrailers.com has an expansive collection of trailers, gameplay footage, etc. for all the games you can think of.  However, that is all it is… videos.  If we could combine that with all other types of media, JACKPOT.

  • RPG Fan has a nice selection of soundtrack information (complete with cover art, track listings, knowledgable reviews, and even song samples).  This thoroughness should be expanded to all game genres (not just RPG soundtracks) for our site.
  • ign.com has news items on various games.  This site, however, tries to tackle too much.  News can be incorporated in our site… as well as the organization by console, then game.

So, anyways, this is funny:

Fav’ Band

April 17, 2007

Nobuo Uematsu, composer for practically every Final Fantasy game, has a rock band.  They turn the battle music from Final Fantasy games for the SNES, Playstation, etc. into awesome workout music.  Here be links:

“The Black Mages” on Wikipedia

Uematsu’s own Black Mages Page

A Black Mage

This is a “black mage”(FFIX style)… sorta like a Jawa.

The Black Mages

This is “The Black Mages.”  Uematsu has a mustache.

I hope this video is the song I’m thinking of… if so, you’re in for a treat.
